Brief of the Department:

Sanskrit Department of Bholanath College, Dhubri was established on 16th August, 1946. As an integral part of this premier institute the Department has been imparting higher education to the students since its very inception. The endeavour of the Departnment is to carry on the values and tradition of the college. This Department has been facilitating the learners to study both the Major/Honours and General/Regular courses. The Major course started in the year 1980-81 under the initiative of Lt. Dinabandhu Bhattacharjee, Former member, GB, B. N. College. The Department also provides the students the avenues to participate in various co-curricular activities. The academic journey of the Department started with the founder teacher honourable Sisir Kar Sastri followed by other respected teachers like Prof. Bharati Sanyal, Lt. Ramprasanna Bhattacharjee, Prof. Raghudev Goswami, Lt. Uttam Chandra Bhattacharya, Mrs. Sahana Begum, Sri Atul Chandra Sarma and others, who contributed a lot to the Department. Being enriched by their contributions the Department has been thriving till today with full vigour. At present the helm of this Department lies in the hands of Dr. Mausumi Bhattacharjee, H.O.D and Assistant Professor, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Upadhyaya.   

 

 Objectives of the Department:

  1. The main objective of the Department of Sanskrit is to provide platform to the students to achieve their expected aspiration and thereby to establish themselves in diversified strata of the society. 
  2. The Department has been facilitating the learners to build their career and develop their character. 
  3. One of the objectives of the Department is to empower the students and prepare them to face the challenges of real life.
  4. The mission of the Department is to popularize Sanskrit language as well as Sanskrit culture. 

 

Vision of the Department: 

  1. The vision of the Department is to create resourceful students, who can contribute in
  2. the sustainable developmental process of the nation. 
  3. In the line of the motto of the college- ‘Śraddhāvān labhate jňānam’, the Department of Sanskrit also wants to inculcate the spirit of dedication and integrity among the students.
  4. The endeavor of the Department is to introduce the students with the great cultural heritage of India. Its vision is to lead the learners towards a broader horizon to understand their life.
  5. The vision of the Department is to acquaint the learners with the preliminary concepts of various disciplines like the literature, Scientific literature, Philology, Philosophy, Poetics, etc.
  6. Disseminating information and knowledge of various disciplines available in the Sanskrit texts, the Department intends to inspire the students to undertake interdisciplinary research activities. 
  7. The dream of the Department is to develop human resources by inculcating the spirit of ethical values, which is considered to be the foundation of Sanskrit culture.
  8. The vision of the Department is to maintain the legacy of Sanskrit ‘Sarve sukhino bhavantu’- May all be happy.
